Update:  Condition of Injured Riders

The riders injured during the Pro Singles Main Event are recovering. Dalton Bell, was released from the hospital on Monday, and Ian Foulds was released from Intensive Care on Wednesday, but will remain hospitalized for a few more days. Both. are expected to make a full recovery.

Calistoga Speedway, located at the top of the picturesque Napa Valley, was the site of the first Northern California AMA Grand National Championship event. The famous dirt half mile, host to Sprint Car and Midget races since 1937, saw the AMA Pro Single and Expert Twin classes racing -on the ultra fast clay half mile at speeds near 100mph.


This full day, family-friendly event included a Group Motorcycle Ride-In from Infineon Raceway, Vintage, Custom and New Electric Motorcycle Show, Dozens of Industry Booths and Exhibitors, Legends Reunion and other Special events.

 

Calistoga Trivia: At the 1969 AMA Pro race at Calistoga Jimmy Odom won the Expert Main Event and Mark Brelsford won the Amateur Main Event.  If you have any information or memorabilia from previous professional or amateur motorcycle  races at Calistoga contact us.  We would like to recognize the history of motorcycle racing at this historic venue

"It was absolutely awesome to see our local boy take this win. I have been watching Stevie race since he was a mini biker. The whole event was so much fun. I have to say the this was the fastest 1/2 mile I have seen in a while. My vote is to bring it back next year also. I miss these events over here on the west coast!!! The event was a blast! The track was beautiful. Close to home, well closer than all the others. :) The best part is that My nephew Life Kelley made the main in his first pro race ever. You helped make history for my nephew and that is wonderful. Way for our West Coast boy to take it in both races and have 4 of them on the podium. I had a great time and now have no voice. Thanks Bob, hope to be there again next year and the years after!!!! Us Flattrackers need to have this on this side of the country."

What an exceptional event all of you gave us. What an exceptional gift for us all. Please share this with the promoter, and please tell us his name again. This was just the biggest gift the promoter and AMA could have given to the motorcycle world. All of you gave us the most wonderful weekend we have experienced in a longgggggggggg flattrack time!!!!!!! Every single part of this venue was put together so exceptional. Everyone who worked there had the best most helpful attitudes and I mean every last person doing every single job. The camping was excellent, the crowd was amazing. The singer who sang the Star Spangled Banner was great, and the crowd was brought to tears as we all sang along to help with the faulty microphone transmission she was experiencing. As fans of AMA Flattrack, we praise you all. We are hoping the injured riders are ok, and hope to hear more about their condition as soon as possible. Our thoughts and prayers for their speedy recovery. Any news you can give us is so very much appreciated. That was also handled in a most professional and timely manner to get them help, transport and proper medical attention. Our everlasting gratitude for this awesome, fantastic, memorable event to the promoter, and all staff. Please tell us any good news you may have or get regarding this race returning to Calistoga and other California venues. YOU GUYS ARE THE GREATEST!!!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!! Esther, it was great to finally meet you even if we only had time for me to say "HI I'm Pamela".
